What Is a Double Decker Pontoon Rental?
A double decker pontoon is exactly what it sounds like — a standard pontoon with a second story built on top, plus waterslides that drop you straight off the upper deck into the water. Our double decker rentals are 24-foot pontoons with 4-stroke motors, a bimini top that covers about half of the lower deck for shade, a boatside ladder, an anchor, and Bluetooth speakers. The slide turns any anchor stop into an afternoon kids will remember. The shaded lower deck means the grown-ups stay comfortable. Everyone wins.

The upper deck doubles your sun area without adding length, so you can comfortably split the boat: shade and snacks downstairs, sun and view upstairs. It is the closest thing to two boats in one without doubling the rental price.

Our dock is located right by the bay — about five minutes from Crab Island, so you do not burn rental time idling through the harbor. That means more time anchored at the sandbar, more time on the slide, and more time on the water.
What to Pack and How to Plan Your Day
Bring sunscreen, towels, a cooler with snacks, a waterproof speaker if you want a backup, and any water toys you want to float on. We recommend the lily pad add-on if you want a soft anchor-stop platform that holds the whole group. Coolers are not provided but are welcome — soft- or hard-sided, just no glass. Food and drinks (including alcohol) are allowed on the pontoon rental, though Crab Island vendors are also right there if you want to skip the cooler entirely.
Fishing is allowed if you hold a Florida saltwater fishing license (easy to grab online from FWC). Tubing is not allowed off the pontoon for safety reasons.
Requirements and Restrictions
- Driver age: The person signing the rental contract must be 18 or older and have a valid government-issued photo ID
- Boater safety certificate: Required for anyone born on or after January 1, 1988. Take the test online (unlimited attempts) or in person (one attempt every 24 hours). The online option is the fastest way to be ready for your rental.
- Operating area: Allowed in the ~15 square miles of bay around Destin. The Gulf of Mexico is not permitted.
- Glass: No glass containers on board, for safety
- Tubing: Not allowed off the pontoon
- Damage protection: $75 non-refundable damage protection covers up to $1,000 in potential damage. Decline it and a $500 fully refundable security deposit is taken at check-in instead.
